Common Questions

Frequently asked questions about the AVS Smart Cable Calculator
Yes. The calculator supports both Starlink Gen 3 and Starlink Mini. The two systems use different power and cable requirements, so the calculator filters AVS products based on the model you select.

What information do I need to use the calculator?

You need three things: your Starlink model (Gen 3 or Mini), your power source (12V, 24V, 48V, mains, USB-C PD, or battery), and the cable length you need in metres.

What happens if my exact cable length is not available?

The calculator recommends the next suitable AVS cable length rather than one that is too short. This avoids voltage drop problems and keeps the install within safe operating limits.

Can I use the calculator for caravans, boats, campervans, 4x4s, and off-grid setups?

Yes. The calculator is built around mobile, marine, and off-grid use cases where cable length, voltage drop, and power source choice all matter.

How are the recommendations calculated?

The calculator matches your selections against AVS product data and engineering-based voltage drop limits, so the recommended cable and power components stay within safe operating limits for Starlink Gen 3 and Mini.
Yes. Starlink Standard 4 and Standard 4X both use the V4 dish, which is the same dish AVS labels as Gen 3. Any AVS Gen 3 compatible product fits both Standard 4 and Standard 4X. Note that the Router Mini inside Standard 4 is different from the standalone Starlink Mini dish.

Not sure which cable or power accessory you need?

Use the calculator above, then add the recommended AVS products straight to your basket. If you need the technical evidence behind the recommendations, view our engineering reports.
